Grammy and Ashlynn's Visit- Day 2 and 3

On Sunday, it was raining. The kids needed to get out so, we hopped on the skytrain and went to Chapters (a bookstore downtown with a nice play area for kids). Then we headed home and let the kids rest before going to our All Nations church service.

On Monday, we went to North Vancouver to eat lunch with Victor. This was a BIG adventure for Ashlynn. We walked to the Canada Line where we rode the skytrain to Waterfront station and then we got on the Seabus. This took us across the water to North Van!

During Ashlynn's spring break my mom brought her to Vancouver. We had a get time!! It was a much needed visit for all of us. Carson and Ashlynn giggled for 7 days straight! Brooklynn tried her best to keep up and did everything Ashlynn did! We had a great time showing Ashlynn around the city.

Alopecia Areata

A few weeks ago, I was messing with my hair and noticed a bald spot! I quickly showed Victor and asked, "Is that a bald spot on my head?" Unfortunately, he said, "Yes, about the size of a quarter." Once we were home, I checked it out in the mirror and had Victor take a picture of my head so I could actually see the bald spot. Yep! There it was, a big bald spot about the size of a half dollar! I was upset and began researching hair loss on the Internet.

Let me back up a bit, I had Brooklynn 18 months ago. After having her my hair began falling out (pretty normal after having a baby) but, it never stopped! So for about the past 18 months my hair has been thinning and falling out.

The next day, Sunday, I went to the clinic below our apartment. I was prepared to be told I had a vitamin deficiency and may need some blood work. However, the doctor took one quick look at the spot and said, "Oh, that's Alopecia Areata!" He began talking about treatment (steroid injections) but, I would first need to see a dermatologists to confirm. I was in shock and a bit overwhelmed. I didn't ask many questions (I didn't want to cry at the doctor's office) but, began reseaching as soon as I got home.

Alopecia Areata is a disease that causes your immune system to mistakenly attack hair follicles, resulting in hair loss. I was very thankful this wasn't life-threatening and God gave me an overwhelming peace. But, still the thought of loosing your hair is depressing.

I have started taking pre-natal vitamins and have an appointment to see the dermatologists on May 27.

I wasn't planning to share this on my blog. However, I couldn't help but want to share after last night. I was checking out the "spot" and for others and thought I felt a few hairs growing!! When Victor got home, I got him to check. PRAISE HIM!! Sure enough I have tiny hairs growing in my bald spot! I am in awe of God and how quickly He has allowed the hairs to regrow!

Over the past few weeks I have become very fond of a particular verse my friend Sara shared with me.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love Valentine's Day! This year we started the day with heart shaped pancakes with strawberries on the side. Then we had a family dinner- spaghetti with sauce poured in a heart shape! The kids got two Valentine's packages in the mail from Grammy/Poppa and Gran Gran/Big Daddy. They loved opening them and seeing all their goodies. Thankful for our grandparents!!

Well, it snowed again! We were excited this time because it snow on the weekend. Victor was home so, he was able to play with the kids this time. We had lots of fun making snowballs, and a snowman. Carson loves throwing snowballs and making snow angels. Brooklynn is beginning to enjoy the snow more (and getting better at moving around in all the layers of clothes:).

We have found a new fun activity- SLEDDING! We went to Mount Seymour with the Phillips in January to sled. We all had a blast! Carson loved it. He wanted to go down by himself on his red sled every time.

This year we rung in the New Year with a family celebration. The kids and I made decorations, flags and party hats. I baked lots of snack foods. When Victor got home we all dressed up and got ready for our party! We had lots of fun (although none of us made it to midnight :).

Christmas

This Christmas was a first for us. We celebrated Christmas with just our family. We had a great time. We had a great time preparing for Christmas this year. Carson is at the perfect age and was so excited about everything. We put up the Christmas trees, visited Santa, looked at Christmas lights, threw out reindeer food, and baked cookies for Santa. Then on Christmas day, we skyped with family, the kids played with new toys, ate a delicious breakfast (homemade cinnamon rolls and sausage muffins), slept, and had a Christmas dinner at the Phillips.

With Carson getting older, we want to make sure we teach him why we really celebrate Christmas. A friend told me about the Jesse Tree- I love it! We made our tree and ornaments and were ready to go! Each night we had a devotion with Carson going through the lineage of Christ. I loved it because each day we were able to bring the focus to Christ, our Saviour. It was amazing to see Carson grasp the truth! This will defiantly be a tradition for us.

Yes, Victor turned 29 this year!! That means just one more year til the BIG 30!! It is crazy how old 30 use to sound! Actually, it still sounds old but we're NOT old...

We had a great time celebrating Victor's birthday. I thought I would list out 29 things I love about Victor in honor of his 29th birthday (of course there are many more:).

We have been blessed with LOTS of visitors since the end of November! My parents were able to visit the week of US Thanksgiving. Four days after they left, Victor's parents arrived. Then the day after they left we had some friends in town from Texas. We had a great time visiting with family and friends.

My parents visit was pretty low key. They were here for the coldest week so far this winter! It snowed twice while they were here. They kids, especially Carson, loved the snow! My mom and I got to have a girls day shopping in Washington (despite the snow). Then on Thursday, my mom and I did lots of baking. We celebrated Thanksgiving at the Phillips.

Victor's parents got in on a Thursday afternoon. On Friday we woke up early and headed to Whistler! This was a great trip and are very thankful they took us. This was Carson's first time to ski (or try at skiing). We put him in ski school. Looking back, that probably wasn't the best decision. He didn't stay all day, but afterwards he did say it was fun:). Maybe next year... Victor and I had a great time skiing. Mr. Earl even skied a half day- that was an adventure! The rest of their visit was spent sightseeing since it was Mr. Earl's first visit.

Then our friends from Texas arrived. This was a "vision trip" for them. They are praying for God to guide and lead their family where He wants them. Vancouver looks to be at the top of the list!! They are seeking God and His will for clarity and direction on this journey. We are praying alongside them that God would point them to the perfect place in Vancouver. We had a great time showing them around the city and sharing amazing stories of what we have seen God do since we have been in Vancouver.

Six Months in Vancouver, Part 2

I know I told you in the last post to visit ReachtheCity.org for more updates about our journey in Vancouver. However, I couldn't resist reposting Victor's lasted blog. I am just overwhelmed as I read the story and look back on how God has poured out His grace, provision, mercy, and love on us. I long to serve others the way He serves us.

We moved to Vancouver trusting in the One who called us here, the Creator of the universe. But there are times when that gets very difficult. It’s not so much that we don’t trust God, it’s that we sometimes don’t know what it looks like to trust Him in a particular situation. We recognize that God ordered our steps long before we began taking them. We understand that God has a will for each and every one of our lives–a good, pleasing, and perfect will. But what does it look like to actively trust Him when we don’t know what His will is?

I have learned a lot about God’s character over the last few years. He’s revealed bits and pieces at different times and in different ways. Still, I can say with unwavering certainty that at this point in my life, there has been no single event through which God taught me more about Himself than when He provided for me the job I currently have in Vancouver.

We arrived in Vancouver on May 21 and almost immediately I began job-hunting. Looking at my background, I was open to a number of roles. I had some solid sales experience I could fall back on. My undergraduate degree was in finance and I had little bit of an accounting background. I also looked into retail quite a bit as I felt it would provide great opportunities for building relationships. I sent out resume after resume after resume. I worked really hard at finding a job, leaving no stone unturned. And I was fortunate enough to be granted several interviews. However, it became clear that I was only going to get a job doing one thing, so my best bet was to really seek God and search my own self. I needed to focus my efforts.

I decided that with all things considered (i.e. work environment and how it might facilitate relationship building; schedule as it relates to being a husband, father & church planter; personal marketability, etc.), my best opportunities lie in either a finance/accounting job or some sort of office manager or business manager. With a more narrowed focus, I sent out resume after resume after resume and saw very little activity. On Wednesday, June 23, I had a great phone conversation with my friend Casey. While I had remained relatively upbeat, I shared with Casey a desire to see God pull through. I knew God would provide the right job in the right time, but I was tired of looking and wanted that “right time” to be “right now!”

I got off the phone with Casey at about 5:45pm and really began crying out to God. My prayer was, “Show me that your hand is in this. Show me that your hand is in something else. Just show me something!” Moments later, at 5:55pm, my cell phone rang. On the other end was the owner of a small accounting firm in North Vancouver. He had received my resume and was wanting to know what caused me to move from Texas to Vancouver. I told him my wife has been asked to serve as a minister to children at a new church start in Vancouver. He immediately showed interest in this and after asking a few preliminary questions regarding my accounting experience, he began asking lots of questions about the churches I served in and the church staff positions I have held. He also talked about some of the other churches in the area. After spending several minutes on the phone, he said he wanted to have me come in so he could hear more from me. He asked when would be a good time. “Well,” I said, “I’m free tomorrow.” “Ok,” he said. “Would you rather meet tomorrow morning or afternoon?” I replied, “Tomorrow morning works well for me.”

I hung up the phone thanking God for His provision and allowing me to see Him at work. I called Casey back to give him an update. I told him about me crying out to God, about the phone ringing minutes later, about the conversations surrounding church, and about the interview. As it turns out, Casey had prayed the very same prayer as soon as we hung up the phone last.

Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. ~Matthew 18:18-20

On June 24, I went in for my first interview with LedgersOnline and it went great! When it was over, I told Lyndsey, “There was nothing I could have done or said that could have made it go any better. Naturally,” I continued, “they are interviewing other people who are more experienced than me, but based on what I do bring to the table, I don’t think there is any way my skills could have been better represented than they were in that interview.” I’m not sure I can recall a time when God seemed to more carefully craft my every word than in that interview.

There were many things about that job and that company that seemed to be a really good fit. I noticed that when I first viewed the job ad on craigslist. Throughout that weekend I prayed to God, thanking Him for the opportunity, thanking Him for being the Great Provider, for being worthy of absolute trust. I talked to God about the various ways in which that job seemed to be a good fit. I prayed that, if it be His will, He would open that door. I then told Him that, truthfully, I desire that to be His will.

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. ~Psalm 37:4 (esv)

As you seek God and delight yourself in following Him, He will place in your heart desires that are not only in line with, but are also aimed at accomplishing or fulfilling His will. ~Psalm 37:4 (my commentary)

On Sunday morning, June 27, I was sitting on our balcony reading my Bible, talking to God, and watching the people on sidewalks. God had given me a peace about the job opportunity that he had made available. As I prayed, I hesitantly said, “Thank you.” It was a strange feeling to say thank you for something that not been provided, but in trusting God, I felt like that was the only appropriate response.

Throughout this job search, my friend Mike had offered to help by passing my resume along to a friend who might be in the position to help. After several days of just not getting around to it, on Tuesday, June 29, I sat down to email Mike a resume and a brief cover letter. In the midst of that, I felt in my spirit a stirring from God telling me not to send that email. I was confused. “Really, God?” I wondered. “Why?”

In that moment, God asked me, “Did you pray to me and ask me to provide for you that position at LedgersOnline?” I responded, “Uhhh, yeah.” “Do you not think I will do that,” God asked. I said, “I know that you can, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will.” God affirms, “But I have. Do not send that email.”

For the next few minutes, I just sat in my recliner processing all of that–testing against Scripture what I believed God was telling me. I found myself at place in my heart saying, “I have faith in God’s promise to provide, but is it wise to put all my eggs in this one basket? After all, where do we draw the line between having faith in God and testingGod?”

The answer is: God responds in conversation with you only after you have been in conversation with Him. His guidance will always pass when tested against Scripture. His guidance will always bring glory to Himself. His guidance will often be contrary to human wisdom, thus ensuring that He alone receives the glory.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones. ~Proverbs 3:5-8

As I sat there and witnessed God ministering to me and teaching me, I said once again, “Thank you for providing this job.” Every day from this day forward, I would continue to thank God for the job that He had assured me had been provided.

The very next day, I received a phone call from Wayne at LedgersOnline. Confidently awaiting the job offer that he had undoubtedly called to make available, I heard Wayne say, “Would you be able to come in for another interview? I would like to talk to you a little further.” Of course, I agreed. Hanging up the phone, I confessed to God that I was a bit confused, but my trust was not shaken and I held my head high waiting for this job in His timing.

On Monday, July 5, I went back to LedgersOnline for my second interview. Much like the first, there was nothing I could have done or said that could have made it go any better. Wayne told me that he had narrowed it down to three candidates and I was one of them. He said, “It’s really a matter of experienced vs. inexperienced–and there are cases to be made for each.” He acknowledge that there are some non-finance pieces of my background that could prove to be a great assett to his business. I left the interview thanking God for allowing me to work with these people.

I decided on Wednesday to get a haircut and while in the salon, Wayne called. He said, “We’re going to take a chance on an energetic, enthusiastic, young gentleman.” As one could imagine, I was very excited. I walked with God through as situation where I was completely powerless. I was literally the least exerienced candidate for the job. But in that time of weakness, God chose to show His favor, might, grace, and glory.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. ~2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Six months in Vancouver, Part 1

Victor has began blogging on our ReachtheCity website. He is blogging our journey to Vancouver and our time here. God has carried us every step of the way! Below is the first part of a series he is blogging. Check out reachthecity.org for more updates!!

It’s hard to believe that just six months ago, on May 21, we crossed the border into Vancouver, British Columbia. It was the beginning of a new chapter in our life; although it sometimes it seems like a completely different book!!

If God were to call us to leave Vancouver today, we would leave changed. We are not the same people who crossed the border 6 months ago. In this very short time, we’ve seen God do some amazing things. We’ve learned more about ourselves. Lyndsey and I have learned more about each other. And God continues reveal Himself to us in ways we’ve never seen Him.

We have been forced to take our dependancy on God to totally new levels. Immersed in an unfamiliar setting, we have no choice but to rely on God to guide our every step. Without a doubt, we have been the beneficiaries of this experience. I believe Carson has been a beneficiary as well. He has walked with us and prayed with us. It is hard to describe the feeling of a parent watching God shape the hearts of our children and grow them in His Name.

On May 21, we had all sorts of plans. What we were going to do. How we would get started. When we would begin new things. God has showed little concern for our plans as He has led us down paths we never considered, opened doors we were never looking for, and showed His mighty hand accomplishing His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

In the next couple of posts, I will share stories of how God has worked in our midst to allow us to be used by Him in this city.

We have had a great time celebrating Halloween this year. We have decorated Halloween cookies, painted pumpkins, played with pumpkins, carved pumpkins, toasted pumpkin seeds, made rock pumpkins, and went trick or treating. This year Carson wanted to be Buzz Lightyear and Brooklynn was a China Doll. They were both so cute in their costumes and had a blast trick or treating. We started out in Yaletown (the area in downtown where we live). The businesses pass out candy. There were kids everywhere!! Carson would walk up and say Happy Halloween as he held out his bucket for candy. While in Yaletown we ran into the Phillips and some other friends. Then, we headed to the Westend to trick or treat at some old houses. It was fun. The houses were decorated and the people passing out candy were in costume and having lots of fun. Brooklynn LOVES candy. She really enjoyed running up to the houses too! At one house, Carson wasn't going fast enough for her. She pushed him out of the way and ran past him to get her candy!

Carson is playing soccer!! Yes, it is hard to believe that he is old enough to play! They have a little kickers league in Vancouver for 2-3 year olds (I'm sure you can image what soccer looks like at that age:). He started playing in September, but I am just getting the pictures up. He is doing pretty good. I must admit, I haven't been too excited about blogging about soccer. We had two rough weeks. One week we left early and the next week we didn't make it to practice due to a crying break down. Hopefully, that is all behind us now. We had a practice this morning and Carson did great! He was laughing, running, and giving Coach Glen high-fives!!

Pumpkin Patch

This year we went to a Pumpkin Patch in Abbotsford, BC with some friends. The pumpkin patch was a lot of fun. They had a petting zoo, playground, pony rides, bounce farm, hay rides, pumpkins, apples, bounce pillow and more. The kids had a blast! Carson's favorite part was the pony ride. He rode on a horse named Nick. He thought that was so funny (since he has an uncle named Nic too!) He kept saying, he had 2 Nic's- a horse one and a people one:).

In September, we went to MS for 10 days. We had a great time visiting with lots of family and some friends. During our stay Victor had a meeting were he was able share with about 15 pastors what God has called us to be a part of in Vancouver. We are still praying that God would continue to burden the hearts of others for Vancouver. Here are a few pictures from the trip. We stayed the first part of the week with my parents and then headed to Duck Hill for the 2nd weekend. It was an exciting weekend- the grand opening of Bull Bottom Farms! This is a pumpkin patch/corn maze that Victor's parents started this year.

A week or two after moving to Vancouver, Carson really hit it off with a little boy, Jack, at the playground. They played in the sandbox and ran around chasing each other and birds. We continued to run into Jack at the playground and began setting up playdates. Needless to say, our family and Jack's quickly became friends! They recently moved back to Australia, but we were able to hang out a good bit before they moved. We even introduced them to a few new things!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving already! Canadian Thanksgiving was October 11. We had a great time celebrating and got to try lots of new foods! Our first celebration was on the Sunday before Thanksgiving with the Korean church. Our team brought American Thanksgiving dishes and the Koreans brought Korean food. There was tons of food and we all had a great time celebrating together. The Koreans were so excited about the turkey (many hadn't ever tried it before) they cheered when Sara brought it in! I will add, it was our first time to eat Thanksgiving dinner with chopsticks!! On Thanksgiving night, we had a big dinner at the Phillip's house.

The weather has been amazing the past few weeks. The leaves are changing colors and are beginning to fall off the trees. It is so beautiful! There is something about Fall that I love. Everything seems so fresh and new. However, I know just around the corner is winter. I am a bit anxious about this winter. I know it is going to be cold and rainy- EVERY day. A little depressing, I know. I am clinging to God to grow and teach me through this period of changes and the unknown.

On Fridays we try to go to the library. The library here is great! They have several play areas, places to color, storytime etc. We love it! We walk to the library (about 10 blocks- up hill-my work out for the week:). When we get there we have a snack at the tables in the front. Then we head downstairs to the children's area. The kids play and then we go to storytime. The lady that does this is great- she has a rabbit puppet, sings songs, and reads stories. Then we head back to the front for lunch then home for naps!!

Yesterday we began our day like any other... well, Carson did have hot chocolate!

Then, we got ready and headed outside! A man was cutting the grass with a big tractor. He stopped by the sandbox where Carson was playing and let Carson check out the tractor. Carson climbed right on and pretended to drive and honked the horn. Then the man asked Carson if he wanted to drive! Carson quickly said YES! This was a great and special treat!

Our baby girl isn't such a baby anymore. On September 15 we celebrated Brooklynn's 1st birthday! Brooklynn is becoming more and more independent each day. I love every part of her sweet, fun personality that is being revealed each day. She adores Carson. She loves doing everything herself! I haven't fed her with a spoon since she was 9 months (except ice-cream, she LOVES it). She is very determined and full of life! I can't wait to see how God moves in her life.

This year for her party, we went with a Pink Cupcake theme. We had a great time celebrating with friends (who have become family). We are truly grateful for all the ways God is blessing our family.

On August 29th we celebrated Carson's 3rd birthday! I know everyone says it, but the last 3 years have flown by. Carson has been a priceless addition to our family. He adds tons of joy and laughter. He has such a sweet spirit, he loves making others laugh, he loves his sister dearly, he loves singing, dancing, and being silly. He is a compassionate and a loving little boy. It is exciting to see God already shaping his heart. He loves to pray for others. I can't wait to see what God has planned for his future.

Canada Day was July 1st and the whole city of Vancouver celebrated! We had a very busy day. First we met Matthew and Jack at Canada Place (where they had tons of food, music, shows, face painting etc.), then we went to a park for the kids to play, next we headed over to 2nd beach to meet up with theCrossings, after that we went to the Phillips' to watch the parade and then we headed home. It was lots of fun, but very busy!!

Here are just some random pictures from the past month or so. Carson and Brooklynn are both growing so fast! Brooklynn is standing up by herself and even beginning to take a few steps by herself!! It is hard to believe that she is already 10 months. Carson is such a great big brother. He loves being the first in Brooklynn's room when she wakes up from her naps. He sings to her often, loves holding her, and can always make her laugh! He loves playing with his trains, cars, riding his horse, and absolutely LOVES to hide! This past weekend Carson was busy! On Friday night, he went to Emma and Ty's house to play (Victor and I had a date night:) Then on Saturday we went to Squamish for A Day with Thomas! Carson was super excited. He got to meet and ride Thomas, meet Sir Topham Hatt , jump in a bounce house, and play on a wooden train. On Sunday, Ty came over to play. This was the first time Carson has had a friend over to play. They both had a great time. They played trains, rode Carson's horse, ate lunch, played on the train near our house, swam, ate snacks while they watched a movie and rested. We all had a great time!

We have finally made it to Vancouver! God has really blessed us through this journey. We made it across the border, got 3-yr visas (a huge praise), and are settled into our apartment. We love it! Carson and Brooklynn are both adjusting well. We are very thankful to already have friends here- the Phillips. They have been a huge blessing to our family. Since the first day we got here Carson has been calling Jeff, Uncle Jeff! May sound silly to you, but it was huge to me. Sara has gone above and beyond to make our transition here smooth and their kids, Emma and Ty, play great with ours. Now that we have settled in Victor is beginning to search for a job-please be in pray for that. Here are a few pictures since we have been here.

Goodbye Texas

I know I already wrote about us leaving Texas but here is an update and a few pictures of our last days in Texas. We are daily amazed at how God is providing and meeting our needs. It was very humbling moving back in with our parents, but there is no way we could have raised support for Vancouver and planned a golf tournament any other way. We are so thankful for parents who wanted us to stay with them for 6mths and had the room for us. God is constantly opening up doors for Victor to speak with pastors about God calling us to Vancouver (really this has become more than a full time job). We are also currently plannig the 1st Annual ReachTheCity Golf Tournament (for more info go to golf.ReachTheCity.org). God is amazingly blessing this as well. We have sold many partnerships and many have also signed up to play. Can't wait to see how God continues to work through this.

When we left Texas it was bittersweet. We were excited to be near family before moving to Vancouver, but we were also leaving family (my sister and her family). So, our last days in Texas were spent letting the kids play together. I was also able to spend special time with Ashlynn- we went to Sweet and Sassy for her Christmas gift from our family. We had a great time. She got a mainure, pedicure, and a mini facial then we went and ate lunch together. This was right up her ally!

Thanksgiving

I know this post is a bit late...

This year for Thanksgiving we stayed in Texas and celebrated with my sister and her family and friends, the Gaumers. Chenille was kind enough to have us ALL (10 adults and 7 kids-all under 3!!) over for lunch. We had a great time eating and visiting with each other. We ate until we couldn't eat anymore and then went home for naps. That evening Lauren and her fam came over to eat leftovers- my Grammy's famous dressing (yep, I cooked). We were very thankful for our friends and family.

Changes

We have had a lot of new changes in the past two months. We have moved back to Mississippi and are living with my parents and Victor's parents until June when we will be moving to Vancouver, BC. God is daily revealing himself to us. He has given Victor many opportunities to talk with pastors and speak at churches to share the vision God has given us for Vancouver. God is providing for us in ways we never imagined.

We moved back the first week of December and have been ON THE GO! We were able to spend Christmas Eve with Victor's grandparents, Christmas Day with my parents, Christmas Day night through Tuesday with Victor's parents, and then back to Pearl with my parents while my sister and her family were in town. We have settled down now and are in Pearl for three weeks.

The kids are both great. They are both so happy and fun to be around. Carson is constantly making us laugh and keeps us entertained. He loves playing with trains, cars, dancing and singing and building with blocks. And of course loves being outside! Brooklynn is becoming so active. She has rolled over several times from her stomach to back and is very close to rolling over from her back to stomach. She's holding up her head, grabbing anything in reach, cooing and smiling all the time. And like her brother she loves being outside too. Carson adores his little sister.

Curious George

The day finally arrived for the big "Guys Night Out." In August Victor saw previews for Curious George LIVE. We decided that would be a fun outing for the boys (especially after Brooklynn's arrival- Carson may need special alone time).

So, this past Thursday Carson and Victor headed out. Carson was so excited to see Curious George. When they got there he wanted to go into the theater right away! He loved every minute of it. Victor said, that he was very attentive and clapped between every scene with the rest of the audience. By the time they left, Carson had a t-shirt, flag, and a balloon (Victor admitted to being a sucker:)!

Life with a Two Year Old!

Well, I have debated on sharing a "cute" story about Carson. First of all, we have had a very eventful past two weeks. Two Mondays ago we ended up in the ER. Carson apparently had croup (but for a mother who has barely experienced a child with a cold it was very overwhelming). He had to get a dose of steroids and a breathing treatment. He was such a trooper! The rest of the week he was pretty puny. He would play a little and then lay down. By Friday it seemed like he was getting worse. And on Monday morning we took him to the clinic on campus and he had an ear infection. I am very proud to say that he is MUCH better now.

Now, for the cute story... The other day we were all in the den and Carson tooted. I said, "Excuse you, did you toot Carson." He said, "No, it's a cow." Victor said, "Was it a cow or did you toot?" Carson replied, "NO! It's a COW!" paused and then said, "There's a cow in my booty!"

We were also able to visit with Victor's parents while in Mississippi. We had a great time there too. Carson rode the four-wheeler, tractor, and checked the cows. Mrs. Vickie had her annual Fall Family Get Together while we were there. After lunch, the guys and Bree:) usually play football in the front yard. This year Mr. Earl introduced a new tradition- Duckhill PBR. That was very entertaining! We also played on hay bails. Carson and Brooklynn wore their Halloween costumes. Carson was a pirate (sorry I didn't get a single picture of him in it) and Brooklynn was a Halloween Princess.

We had a great visit with my parents. Carson and Poppa went to the donut shop just about every morning, rode four wheelers and fed the horses in the afternoon. Carson had a blast!
